pasko na?!

i cant feel the holiday spirit. only the anticipation of a vacation and occasional christmas jingles i hear elsewhere remind me that it's that time of the year. could it be because im too busy working that i cant even prepare for the holidays? or is it because i haven't really started on my christmas shopping? or maybe because i know ill be spending it with less people this year... i guess all three reasons count. the streets, as expected, are donned with xmas lights and decors. but its less festive i think. it doesn't have that usual inviting vibe you get whenever you're outside. i think im not alone. i can feel that somehow, people are also unexcited bec of a dozen things thy're worrying about. goodness! i feel like every year the spirit diminishes...or i could also be wrong. this entry is obviously subjective. that's just how i feel. hope things will be better as i count the days till christmas.... ho ho ho

**i dont mean to ruin the real essense of the Holidays. i just need to get pass this emotion so i can finally feel it! hopefully this week.

David vs Goliath

It's a strange feeling to be blogging again. Especially when you know you will be writing another aboutr tragic event. After the carnage in makati from the glorietta blast i posted about a month ago, here i am blogging about another makati event that shook us yesterday. No, it's not the 4.2 earthquake that literally shook the city this week bout something more shakening, a tremble that i felt inside.

Lost cause?

Please don't tell me it is so. because since it happened, almost everyone agreed when i asked them about it. Another one? Same guy? Sen. Trillanes took Makati City on a spin as he tried, again, to get everyon'e attention about the worsening condition of the country as a result of a rotten leadership, so he says. But even before he can speak out, he was silenced. No, not that kind where you can only speak out in your after life but something more brutal. He was stripped off his right to fight for what he believed in. Something that is enough to kill any patriotic soldier. The siege in makati or manila peninsula in particular, gave me a feel of what had happened 20 something years ago. Back when people where more vigilant and when they were still lead by a housewife that became the most powerful woman in the whole world. This tme, how different was it?
Could it be because Gen. Danny Lim and Sen. Antonio Trillanes caught us all off guard and no one thought that during that fateful rainy day, we will see another coup de' etat. Or was it because no one anticipated their walk out from their case hearing. A case that was from their first attempt to free us from the mockery that this government turned our lives into. A joke that left no one laughing. day by day things are getting more serious and intense. Questions like, "what's gonna happen to trillanes and lim?", or "what will the government do next?" still clouds everyone's mind.

Tank you

I have never seen an apc wreck a hotel, that's for sure. That magnificent hotel grandeur that has become a symbol of exclusivity and luxury for some was ruined by an ugly chunk of metal whose purpose for doing so hasn't really made that much point to me. Why on earth did they drive that into the hotel? I guess the owners must've had their hearts broken when they were watching it. Imagine ruining that beautiful hotel just to stop a handsful of soldiers. They must've known something enough to crumble this governement which we'll never know i guess. So I tank the AFP for doing that and providing us the right amount of suspense and action any spectator would love to see in a case like this. But what's more entertaining was their attempt in comedy. Imagine throwing tear gas in the hotel and then trying to go in just minutes after. Who do you think was hurt by the gas? the magdalos? haha. i don't think so. I guess too much action drowned their common sense. oh well.

MEDIAcre

Mess with one, mess with all. Hasn't the men in camos realized that already. Media men risked their lives so they can give us the latest news on the event. Why arrest them? Was it bad to cover the news that affects everyone. Was it wrong to give the people what they needed to know? Were they crossing the line? It's enough that many lives were already affected. Spare them. What the government did i think only took the spotlight from the magdalos and owned it. But not for anything good i suppose because you dont get to mess with the media...they fight back. See now, in our news, the governement's role in defending us from distabilization and terror turned into an oppression. So cut them some slack and stick to the point. What was that again? tsktsk.

I CUR-FEW

12mn to 5am? seriously?. this isn't the '80s anymore. life is different. when you impose a curfew there are definitely strings attached. im keeping you posted on that one.

After shock

I still hope in my heart of hearts that what happened last thursday wasn't just another page written in history. rather, a wake up call from years of slumber. A sane guy, much more a soldier will not risk everything just so he can put up a show. He wanted to tell us something. Though we might not be able to see him in days to come, i hope we still get to hear his plea.
Not just hear but listen. Not just look but see. Not just be a citizen but be a filipino. Be someone worth dying for.

vigilance.

today taught us once again of a very valuable lesson. be vigilant at all times. this afternoon, a bomb exploded at glorietta in makati. that was a little after lunch. fate was on our side as me and my officemates were supposed to eat at greenbelt and make a quick getaway from office work. going to greenbelt means stopping by glorietta as well. since the 2 malls are strategically close enough for people to go mall-hopping, God knows what might have happened. as i write, there are i think 8 dead and 70 plus injured. it was a massive explosion that not even an lpg can cause. (which was the initial finding). this is definitely scary. thank God that everyone i knew was safe. once again, be vigilant at all times. because those who did that are still roaming the country freely.

my friday with my girls

Was able to go out once again with the core group last Friday. It made me realize how much I miss them :) Since I haven't treated them for my bday, we ate our hearts out at Gloria Maris. Please check my multiply for pics. Though haven't really uploaded them (but will do so when lexa's uploaded them to her site). So right after, we went to MetroWalk and stayed there for a long time. That's how much we missed each other! huhuhu, can't wait till Saturday to see them again. We'll watch the intrams at St. Paul to support the MassComm!
Katz! you're missing all the happenings! :) but you know, we'll be friends for a looooooong time so there'll always be another chance! hahahahahaha! queso! :P Can't wait to see you again vips! We miss you!

Whattaweek!

this week was a blast! let me itemize the events :)
1) MY FIRST BDAY AS AN EMPLOYEE
Last Monday was my birthday and it was different. There was a pressing deadline that we need to finish by the next morning so we had to sleep for the night. In other words, I dint get to celebrate at home. It was my first time not to have a party at home BUT I got to celebrate it with another. My HQ family threw me a surprise party which made me feel really special. It gives me a warm glow just thinking of it... Awwww arte ko! hahaha :) but seriously, these people are the best officemates anyone can have. Everyone remembered and greeted me first thing in the morning with matching bday song! Then I bought lunch for everyone. Just when I thought my day was over, I took a bath before starting to actually work and begin the bainstorming. (around 10pm I think...) When I got out of the bathroom. The light was off. Thinking they were just trying to scare me like they normally do since they know I'm a scaredy kat, I peeped into the conference room and saw a cake lit with candles and a gift beside it while they sing me a happy birthday! HAD I KNOWN, I could've at least brushed my hair! HAHAHA. They even gave me a video greeting. I'll find a way to upload it here or somewhere else. (see #4) hahaha :)
It was so touching really. They made me feel special from am to pm! In my 2 months as their copywriter, I guess I've formed a bond with them already that I hope will last for a mighty long time... (Utang muna ng pics, we'll post once I get a hold of them)
2. NEW OFFICE
Yeeey!!! We finally transferred to a better office! If you know the kind of ordeal we were in at our old office, you would understand our excitement. :) Everyone was euphoric since they waited a long time for it. Though my stay there was short-lived, I share their happiness in finally experiencing the joys of an elevator. hahaha! I'll leave you with that. Imagine life without an elevator and staying at the 5th floor! Anyway, we moved out=everybody happy! I'll post pics once in a while. It's not yet totally finished... so there.
3. SHAIYAN AND MARUH'S BDAY
Sept. 7 was another day to celebrate. 2 from the creatives celebrated their birthdays which means a whole day of eating. I love them both! Thanks sa lunch ;p Anyone who hasn't seen me lately will be shocked of how fast I gained weight. It comes with the job, beat it you dieters! hahaha :) hey, we need food so our brains can function and keep the creative juice flowing. hahaha, ok I know I'm justifying the situation and psyching myself not to feel insecure again. blah blah blah. ;p
and finally.....tentenenen!
being a procastinator....
i finally finally finally worked on my....
